From their website: The Literature/Film Association was founded by Jim Welsh in 1989. In the years since its inception, the LFA has grown into a thriving professional organization with an international membership and a history of annual conferences held in the United States and abroad. It is currently the largest and most active scholarly society devoted to the study of literature and film, and is committed to the continued study of these media as they change and evolve in the twenty-first century.
Association of Adaptation Studies
From their website: The Association of Adaptation Studies is a group of people drawn from literature and film backgrounds whose aim is to bring together the diverse strands and developments in the field.
The aims of the Association are:
- To disseminate ideas across disciplines
- To challenge assumptions concerning the boundaries of literature on screen
- To increase postgraduate work in the field
- To support conferences
- To enlarge the place of teaching of literature on screen within the curriculum
