Current CFP for Syllabi

By May 31, 2025, we encourage you to email one or more adaptation-related syllabi to the Adaptation Today Pedagogy Team: James Fleury (fleuryjb@wustl.edu) and Kathryn J. McClain (kmcclain@coloradomesa.edu).

You are welcome to submit one or more syllabi focused either entirely or partly on the study of adaptation; in addition to the syllabi, please include a 200-300 word summary of the material’s focus, as well as any particular notes about the success of this content in the classroom.

We particularly welcome syllabi in the following areas:

  • Adaptation studies
  • Literature-to-film/film-to-literature
  • Media franchises
  • Stage-to-screen/screen-to-stage
  • Transmedia studies
  • Introductory or survey courses (e.g. Introduction to Adaptation Studies)
  • Transmedia courses (e.g. Film and/as Literature or Comic Books in Adaptation)
  • Adaptation in historical periods (e.g. Adaptation in the 19th Century, Medievalism as Adaptation)
  • Interdisciplinary courses that have units or themes focused on adaptation (e.g. Fan Studies, Interdisciplinary Writing and Research)
